ArtHaus needs your help. To continue offering our full outreach-programming schedule in Volusia County Schools it is necessary for us to find new volunteers. Like any successful service organization, we are constantly expanding and stretching the limits of what we can offer the community. New positions include gallery docents, a historian, teaching assistants, school liaisons and committee members.
Clerical and Gallery Docents
10 to 20 hours a week. Duties include answering phone, preparing mailings, greeting visitors, filing, and scheduling rentals / program registrations. Volunteers may also be involved in ordering art supplies, maintaining inventory and keeping art collection records. No requirements other than being comfortable interacting with people and discussing art related programs. We will work with volunteers on how to discuss current art exhibitions and train interested individuals in scheduling and record keeping.
Historian
ArtHaus is seeking a volunteer interested in documenting programs, media coverage and special events. Duties will include taking pictures of events, researching media coverage, building a scrapbook and tracking attendance numbers. We estimate that the historian will work an average of 3 to 4 hours a week. Volunteer will have free darkroom privileges and ArtHaus will pay for supplies.
Teacher Assistants
Schedule varies, help is needed during classes and workshops. Youth programming during after school hours and kids ceramic parties are when help is most desired. Assistants will help lay out art supplies, may assist students during assigned tasks and help clean up after conclusion of program. We are asking that assistants leave their name and numbers so that teachers or ArtHaus staff members may call upon them when help is desired.
School Liaisons
An average of 10 hours a month. We are seeking a representative from every school in the County to serve as an ArtHaus liaison. Primary responsibility will be taking digital photos for a school art gallery. We are attempting to build an on-line art gallery for every school in the County. ArtHaus has the ability to update each gallery at least 3 to 4 times a school year. Other responsibilities will include updating the Foundation on student needs and alerting the school to ArtHaus outreach programs available.
Special Event Committee Members
Volunteers will be asked to attend monthly meetings, special events and be available help set up events. We are estimating that volunteers will spend approximately 10 hours of volunteer time during the week of a special event. ArtHaus currently has 3 major special events, an art sale and auction, annual dinner and street painting festival. These committee members will be asked to expand and improve these events. The Foundation currently relies on these events to provide 20% of our operating budget. The success of the events is vital to our organization.
