Roscoe Peacock

Heres the Featured Young Artist interview for the website, his name is Roscoe Peacock.
Interview continued from ArtHaus Talks.

What is your earliest art memory?
My earliest art memory would have to be sketching creatures with my good friend in elementary school.

What helped you to decide to go into to art as an elective at school?
I figured that electives were meant as kind of a fun subject in school, and I liked art, so art as an elective was a win, win for me.

What kind of career are you hoping / planning for? Where are you going to get your degree?
Well, I'm not very certain what area I want to study in, but I'm pretty curious about architecture. A career as an architect sounds very good right now. I will be pursuing my B.F.A. at the Savannah college of Art and Design, in Savannah Georgia. I'll do my best and wish me luck.

What was it like to have your art on exhibit at ArtHaus?
I love the ArtHaus for letting me exhibit my art work there. It was a great learning experience and helped me become a little more exposed with the the processes that are involved as an artist. I hope they will always be able to have shows like the ones they have for students. Thank you, People of the ArtHaus for your support for young aspiring artists like me.

Who is your most admired artist?
I really admire Chuck Close and his amazing portraits. That guy has got some talent!

Do you have any advice for young artists?
I would say, enjoy yourself, and never let anything get you down. Always try to look at things differently than every body else. Art is about expressing yourself and showing others how you perceive the world, so go for it.

How would you describe your style or goal as an artist?
I feel that my style is very likely to change as I take classes and I learn new techniques. Recently, I've been trying to take ordinary things/subjects and adding my own little touch to them. With this, I've been having a little fun.

Who do you feel has helped you realize your artistic self?
There have been many people along the way to help me realize that art was the right path for me. Whether it was a close friend, my grandma, my first grade art teacher, or just people who have stopped to say they like what I'm working on, every one of them has helped me to realize that I was meant to be an artist.
