Art Cubed
With increasing pressure regarding state testing, teachers are continually challenged to boost students reading,
writing, computation, and critical thinking skills while creating interesting and stimulating lessons. ArtHaus
is currently piloting a program that includes reading, writing, math and art lessons based on professional artwork
in a traveling collection. We are currently seeking schools and teachers to participate.
ArtHaus sends professional traveling art exhibitions to local schools. Additional artwork and artist information
is contained in online exhibitions. A related art demonstration or workshop is often provided as an accompaniment
to the traveling exhibit, with art lesson plans provide online. New ArtCubed programming uses existing traveling
exhibits as the foundation upon which lesson plans are designed.
ArtCubed lessons strive to incorporate core skills in direct conjunction with enhancing artistic appreciation.
Each lesson meets specific state standards and is designed to work both alone or in a series. The current grade
level divisions of these lessons should be considered broad and flexible. Please review different age lesson

Students
Kindergarten through first grade, boys and girls, all abilities, with a focus on third and fourth quarter benchmarks
Time
Four, approximately forty-five minute lessons with required materials
Materials
Large class world map or Power Point presentation, prepared sentence
strips, paper, crayons or markers, geometric shapes for tracing, prints of Betty Presss images of Cuba , outline images of photographs
, coloring sheet xerox copies of Betty Press's photography, large image produced once as a photograph and once as a painting, chart paper, copies of the island of Cuba
Outcomes
Students will be able to:

count up to 10 or more objects using verbal names and one-to-one correspondence

use numbers to describe how many objects are in a set
